Helping Hands

A message from Boughton Monchelsea Helping Hands :

Since everyone was given a free pass to live and explore the outside world again following Covid, Helping Hands has been working hard behind the scenes to get back to normal (whatever that is!).

Karen and Katy have taken a step back to concentrate on the many other things they are involved with and Kelly and Kevin Collier have taken over the reins. They wanted to let you know what they have been up to!

The last few months have been taken up with reviewing what has gone on before and looking towards the future. Documents have been drafted and submitted to the Charity Commission to register Helping Hands (Boughton Monchelsea) as a charity to assist with fund raising and obtaining donations to help the parish residents to thrive. We have set up a new website and Facebook group to help publicise information and now have a free telephone helpline for the parish.

We have also been speaking to residents to find out what Helping Hands can do to help them. We are aware of the difficulties that being a resident of the village brings if you cannot drive or do not have access to a vehicle. We have heard stories of difficulties in getting to doctor, dentist, and hospital appointments. We have heard how the change in bus timetables has affected you and your wish to be able to easily access Maidstone and the local supermarkets. We have listened, not just heard, and are now looking at how Helping Hands could assist with these issues.

We will shortly be running some short surveys to find out in more detail what you would like from Helping Hands so please keep an eye out on our website and facebook page.
