Over 100 local people of all ages came together on Saturday 25th January to plant more than 500 native trees on land next to Campfield Farm in Loose. The event was organised by Boughton Monchelsea Amenity Trust with help from the Rotary Club of Maidstone, Boughton Monchelsea Scout Group and the Piper family.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to a successful day of tree planting, producing a new local amenity and responding to the global climate emergency.

The land was kindly donated to the trust by the Firmin family and has been named Firmin’s Field in memory of Ian Firmin who passed away recently.

Forthcoming Friends of BMAT projects are as follows :

  • Maintenance of the newly planted ‘Firmins Field’ including installation of log seats and sowing wildflower seeds in the glade
  • Development of a 2 acre wild flower meadow on the Furfield Park open space off Brishing Lane. To facilitate this we will be applying to MBC for a ‘Go Green Go Wild’ grant
  • Tree planting at Walk Meadow, Bottlescrew Hill

If you would like to register as a Friend of Boughton Monchelsea Amenity Trust please contact the Parish Clerk on 01622 744969 or [email protected]

The first Friends of BMAT meeting will take place on Friday 13th March at 7pm in the committee room of the village hall. Please let us know if you can attend.
